Fred Rogers was born Fred McFeely Rogers on the 20th of March, 1928 and he died on the 27th of February, 2003, Rogers was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, United States and he was born to a father named James Rogers and a mother named Nancy Rogers, his father was a businessman and president of the McFeely Brick Company, his mother Nancy, knitted sweaters for soldiers, Rogers grew up with an adopted sister named Elaine, he learnt how to play the Piano at the age of five and he spent most of his early days playing with Puppets all by himself.
Rogers grew up being a very shy and introverted person, he attended the Latrobe High School, he was also a member of the National Honor Society and was editor-in-chief of the School year book, he later enrolled at the Dartmouth College and then transferred to Rollins College which is located in Winter Park, Florida and he graduated in 1951 with a degree in music composition, Rogers also attended the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and was ordained a Minister of the United Presbyterian Church in 1963.

After graduating from College in 1951, Fred Rogers began to work at NBC in New York City as floor director of Your Hit Parade, The Kate Smith Hour and Gabby Hayes’ Children’s Show, he also worked as an assistant producer of The Voice of Firestone, in 1963, he began to work as a program developer at Public Television station WQED, in 1963, Rogers worked for CBC in Toronto and he developed and hosted a 15-minute black and white children’s program titled Misterogers and the show lasted from 1963 to 1967, from 1964 to 1967, he worked with Coombs on the Children’s show Butternut Sqaure, in 1978, Rogers hosted interview programs for adults on PBS called Old Friends…New Friends, on the show, Rogers interviewed actors, sports stars and politician.
In 1994, Rogers created a one-time special PBS called Fred Rogers’ Heroes, in 1996, he played the role of Preacher in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, in 1982, Rogers appeared on the Saturday Night Live, in 1998, Rogers appeared in an episode of Candid Camera.

Bush awarded Rogers the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002, in 2003, the asteroid 26858 Misterrogers was named after Rogers by the International Astronomical Union in an announcement at the Carnegie Sceince Centre in Pittsburgh.
