Harris Rosen started out as a conventional salesman at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. He later worked at hotels like Hilton Hotels and the New Yorker Hotel. Due to the success he recorded in working at hotels, he was employed as director of hotel planning at the Walt Disney Company. In 1973, he purchased his first hotel called Quality Inn. In 2006, he opened 1501-room Rosen Shingle Creek, an AAA Four Diamond Hotel and a resort. In 2017, he purchased the Clarion International Drive and the Red Roof Inn International Drive and by 2019, he already had eight hotels to his name.
Apart from being a successful investor and businessman, Rosen had also recorded tremendous success as a philanthropist. In 1993, he created the Tangelo Park program which benefitted a lot of communities in Orlando, Florida by ways of scholarships. In 2017, he partnered with Rollins College to provide three annual scholarships to students in Orlando, Florida. In 2002, he donated $18 million to the University of Central Florida to develop the Rosen College of Hospitality Management. He also serves as a charter member of the University Of Central Florida Board Of Trustees. For many years, he has funded and sent medical supplies and personal hygiene items to Haiti.
