Joey Ansah was born on the 24th of November, 1982 in London, England and he was born to his Ghanaian father Kofi Ansah, a successful fashion designer and to his mother Nicola Ansah and he grew up with a sister Tanoa Sasraku-Ansah, a visual artist and a brother Ryan Ansah, a musician.
Ansah was raised in London, but by the time, he turned 10 years old, he emigrated to Ghana, there he studied the martial art of Taekwondo for four years and then took up hip-hop dance and motorbike racing, by the time he was 15 years old, he returned to England and settled in Plymouth alongside his mother and sister.
Joey Ansah attended Devonport High School for Boys; he later enrolled at Oxford Brookes University, where he graduated with a degree in human biology.
